(POST 38) SINGIN IN THE RAIN

Image
SINGIN IN THE RAIN "SINGIN in the rain" setting: This scene is set on the street, whilst raining. This whole scene conveys Don's love for Kathy, after leaving her for the night. I think setting this scene in the rain shows Don's excitement and happiness. As he spins and dances down the street, there is a lot of space to use. I think they set this scene on a public street, to take advantage of the large areas for the dancing and enthusiasm. This large area which he dances in, could convey how big dons feelings are for Kathy.  P rops: The one and only main prop in this scene, is the black umbrella. He uses this umbrella to shield himself from the rain at the start. This could symbolise him shielding himself from the things getting in the way of their relationship. on the other hand, as he dances away, in the middle he starts to take his umbrella down, which could suggest if things get in the way you have to deal with them. He uses his umbrella in his dance mov...

(POST 37) TASK 2 - The Gold Rush - Charlie Chaplin

Image
THE GOLD RUSH The Roll Dance scene: - Setting This scene is set in Charlie's home. In this scene the 4 ladies visit Charlie for dinner, however they didn't turn up in reality. The surroundings set off a relaxing and calming mood/feel to the event, especially as they lite the candle and it has a dark atmosphere. The area is very spacious, and includes a big dinner table in the centre.   This whole scene is mainly focused around his dream, which makes the audience feel sympathy for him. - Props The props he uses are, 2 folks and 2 bread rolls, this could symbolise how the food in 1925 was very bland. The bread rolls could also convey how the relationship between the him and the girl. - Costume/makeup In this scene, Charlie wants to dress to impress his guests, which is why his costume is very smart, as this is how they use to dress in the 1925's. However, his trousers look a bit untidy and are very baggy which could suggest he is low on money. This aga...

ROUNDHAY GARDEN SCENE What is the basic plotline? It was taken in the garden of the Whitley family house in Oakwood Grange Road, Roundhay, a suburb of Leeds, Yorkshire, Great Britain, on October 14, 1888. The 'actors' are shown walking around in circles, laughing to themselves and keeping within the area framed by the camera. It lasts for less than 2 seconds and includes 12  frames per second. The two seconds of 'Roundhay Garden Scene' contains two men and two women in Roundhay Garden. One of the men seems to follow a woman while the other man is crossing the screen changing his path to the other man in the last fraction of the shot. Who made it and who starred in it? It shows Adolphe Le Prince (Le Prince's son), Mrs. Sarah Whitley, (Le Prince's mother-in-law), Joseph Whitley and Miss Harriet Hartley. (POST 34) Macro elements of the film form

Image
Mother! Representation -  All the character's in the film, aren't named which I think shows how no one has an identity. all of the characters don't show any personalities through this film, as the main focus is on the visitors, and how they are controlling them. The main character 'mother!' who is played by the actress 'Jennifer Lawrence' shows a lot of emotions and face expressions throughout the film, which makes the audience feel her emotions too. Her makeup on set is quite natural, if wearing any at all. Her costume, is also very plain and basic. The character 'him' who is played by the actor 'Javier Bardem'  has a very unusual personality, that I find hard to work out. Throughout the film, it came across to me that he cares more about his reputation/career  than his girlfriend. His costume, is also quite smart and tidy which shows how he takes his career really seriously. As said previously the camera is mainly focussed on '...
