Casting and Characters!

• Mr Beaver

Mr Beaver is a comical character, however he also plays a crucial role in telling the Pevensie children that they play a crucial role in killing the Ice Queen and that Aslan is waiting for them. He seems to be the eyes and the ears of Narnia although no one expects it. Mr Tumnus and Mr Beaver seem to be close aquanitances as he gave Mr beaver the handerchief before he got taken. 

• Mrs Beaver

Mrs Beaver is also a comical character. She plays a 'typical' 'old fashioned' female as when the children arrive she tells them that she hasnt had time to do her fur, and to "excuse the mess" as if it is her job to tidy the house. She is also the one to tell the children that they are the two sons of Adam and the two daughters of Eve. 

• Lucy Pevensie                                                     

Lucy Pevensie is the youngest out of the children. She was also the first to enter Narnia although that isnt the scene in which we are focussing on. She meets Mr Tumnus and hands him her handkerchief. She is the most caring out of the Pevensie children, perhaps because she is the youngest or perhaps she has already made the inital connection with Narnia and has a motive to want to stay there, saving Mr Tumnus. 

• Edmund Pevensie 

In this scene, Edmund seems to have the least lines although he has the most acting to do. He is the one who escapes from his siblings whilst at the beavers house and heads towards the ice castle, the home of the ice queen, the person in which the children are supposedly meant to be killing. Edmund seems to be a closed character who doesnt particularly feel the need to stay with his siblings as he has already previously met the ice queen and thinks that shes on his side and so goes running towards her. 

• Peter Pevensie 

Peter is the eldest of the Pevensie children, and he seems to be the most determined to kill the ice queen, different to his sister Susan. He is a natural leader and has the most bravery to save Narnia. He is clearly caring of his brother Edmund as when he realises that Edmund was heading towards the ice castle, he ran after him but got pulled back by Mr beaver.

• Susan Pevensie 

Susan Pevensie is the second eldest of the siblings. She doesnt seem very motivated and is clearly unhappy to be at Narnia due to its undafe conditions. She is playing the role of their mother and is caring for Lucy and Edmund as their mother would.

When in rehearsal, we managed to get some footage of the actors reading their lines:

This is the footage from the auditions, and because in our section Lucy doesn't have a lot of lines, we used a different section from the play to see if the actors would be up for it. Although all of the actors who wanted to help us with this project were fantastic, we ended up casting the girl in audition 4. We chose her as we felt that her voice was suited perfectly to the role and we thought that her performance was excellent and we really wanted her to help us.
