(POST 8) Mise-en-scene making an original still image task

In todays lesson we created 3 still images based on the mise-en-scene topics, setting, costume/make up, lighting and figure and expresson and moveremnt.  in my group was Joe and Justine, we chose to create a sinster and dark affect for our photos. We used the drama studio for our setting and placed chairs in a random postion in the room. some turned upside down, others up right. this is where we had our three actors sitting.  











For the first image above we created a blurred affect, which we feel made it the most sucessful out of the three we took. we feel the lighting in this photo is also very succesful. there is clear contrast of light and dark areas, the long shaddows of the chairs we feel also looks extremely creepy and adds to the over all horror theme we were going for. 











In this third photo we used the shadow of Justines face to add a contrast to Dans, we felt her shadow showed the idea of innocent and looked deleacte. i feel we used space well in all of our photographs.

Him and Her- scene 2: For this task we got given, we have to pick a scene out of him and her, and produce some paragraphs on a particular part of mise-en-scene. I choose costume and makeup and also lighting. Costume and Makeup: In this scene, its Steve's birthday, and he is ill, which gives us a sense of unexcitment and sadness. Steve is wearing a dressing gown in bed, which implies that he is feeling lazy and wants to relax. Even though its his birthday, his costume and makeup shows that he is feeling unwell and doesn't want to communicate with anyone. Steve and Becky are both very lazy people, however in this scene Becky is dressed and has her makeup done, which shows she is feeling ready and is excited for steves big day. Costumes and makeup, for the other charcters, show off effort and time they have put in, just for steves birthday. This shows a contrast between steves day and the other characters day, and how they are feeling individually.  Lighting: The light

(POST 36) TASK 1 - The Silent Era presentation

     ROUNDHAY GARDEN SCENE What is the basic plotline? It was taken in the garden of the Whitley family house in Oakwood Grange Road, Roundhay, a suburb of Leeds, Yorkshire, Great Britain, on October 14, 1888. The 'actors' are shown walking around in circles, laughing to themselves and keeping within the area framed by the camera. It lasts for less than 2 seconds and includes 12  frames per second. The two seconds of 'Roundhay Garden Scene' contains two men and two women in Roundhay Garden. One of the men seems to follow a woman while the other man is crossing the screen changing his path to the other man in the last fraction of the shot. Who made it and who starred in it? It shows Adolphe Le Prince (Le Prince's son), Mrs. Sarah Whitley, (Le Prince's mother-in-law), Joseph Whitley and Miss Harriet Hartley. (POST 18) Audience Feedback on kuleshov effect

Kuleshov Effect Videos In Wymondham town centre we filmed many short clips of videos of members of the public watching our Kuleshov Effect video. We then asked them to identify the emotion they believe the character is showing after each clip. We asked a range of people and then created a short video which showed their replies. We also asked some of the members of the public about films from a set of questions we had created.  At the end of the 3 videos we explained that in fact the character clip hasn't changed in any of the 6 times they saw it and it is actually the Kuleshov Effect of seeing a particular image sandwiched between a person that has put this thought into their minds.
