(POST 11) Ferris Buellers day off

                         Ferris Bueller's day off!
                                    -the parade scene

Setting
During this scene the action takes place outside in public with in a parade. The setting indicates this as there are hundreds of people dancing along in the streets to the music. The setting gives off a sense of a dramatic genre, as the parade is an exciting but unexpected event during the film. This scene particularly sets a fun and enthusiastic mood, by including dancing, singing, music and even the face expressions create a happy atmosphere. The setting implies that the characters have confident and exciting personalities, this shows that their culture and behaviour is really outgoing, although he does take risks, especially the main character Ferris.
Costume and makeup
The costumes and outfits they use in this film creates an 80’s vibe, as they are quite smartly dressed. The main character Ferris has a waistcoat on while the ladies have colourful dresses on, this suggests that they are going to an exciting event as the only time you wear waistcoats now days are when there are fun events going ahead. The main character Ferris, is wearing a t-shirt, with a waistcoat and some smart trousers, which indicates that’s he is a confident person who is quite social, his behaviour from the costume illustrates how he is a talkative person too. At the start of the film Ferris wears a suit which is more smart and strict, while during this scene he is just wearing a waistcoat which shows that its more relaxed and laid back. The costumes in this scene are very exciting which implies that they are having fun and are confident with in their self’s.

Lightening
The lightening in this scene comes across as high key as it involves bright colours, for example coloured shirts, flags, balloons and costumes. This creates a cheerful mood for the people watching the film or this scene especially. Throughout the film different lightning techniques are used. At the school a low-key lightening is used, this sets the mood as being dull and boring, for the audience.  The lightening indicates a romantic but dramatic genre of film. The colour of the light changes with in different scenes, for example this scene the colour of lightening is high key, with bright colours, while other scenes are low key with dark colours which makes the mood less exciting.
Figure, Expression and Movement.
The main character Ferris, is positioned differently in every shot in this scene as he is dancing in the parade, but mainly he is positioned in the centre of the screen. This could symbolise his role and importance in this film, but also could symbolise his strong relationship with his girlfriend who he takes with him on this day off. The kind of movements we see them engaged in are dancing, this conveys that they are enjoying their self’s and are feeling enthusiastic about the whole event. The main characters face expressions, show off action and adventure, but also drama, and romance. His movements give off a fun and exciting atmosphere, and indicate a dramatic and adventurous genre.
