SINGIN IN THE RAIN "SINGIN in the rain" setting: This scene is set on the street, whilst raining. This whole scene conveys Don's love for Kathy, after leaving her for the night. I think setting this scene in the rain shows Don's excitement and happiness. As he spins and dances down the street, there is a lot of space to use. I think they set this scene on a public street, to take advantage of the large areas for the dancing and enthusiasm. This large area which he dances in, could convey how big dons feelings are for Kathy. P rops: The one and only main prop in this scene, is the black umbrella. He uses this umbrella to shield himself from the rain at the start. This could symbolise him shielding himself from the things getting in the way of their relationship. on the other hand, as he dances away, in the middle he starts to take his umbrella down, which could suggest if things get in the way you have to deal with them.
